  1. Once per day or week (your choice), move your local cache to the Trash
    1. In your login directory, the contents of Library/Caches
    2. Empty the Trash on a reboot.
  2. Once a month, boot your Mac into Safe Boot Mode
    1. Start the Mac and immediately press and hold the shift key
      1. Release shift key when grey progress bar appears
      2. Enter username and password. Stop.
      3. Press and hold shift key - then log in.
      4. Release shift key when desktop appears.
      5. Reboot Mac normally

  3. If you are using Adobe Flash
    1. System Preferences > Flash Player > Advanced > Delete All..

  5. Keep files organized within functional folder names and remove unwanted files
